It does require a small amount of money for the correct equipment. You will need a decent inversion table. That will cost about $200, but it is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to beating the golfers back pain. If you just can't afford the inversion table, you can get a pice of plywood about 7 feet by 2 feet and prop one end up with a cinder block. That might set you back about twenty bucks. I also recommend "7 Steps to a Pain Free Life" by Robin Mckenzie. It will help you speed along what the inversion table helps you achieve. It doesn't cost much and tells you everyhting you need to know about back and neck pain. If you can't afford an inversion table, get the book and start the back "exercises". (I put that in quotes because I don't want you to think that you will be doing anything strenuous or hard.). In many cases those exercises will eliminate or reduce the back pain on their own. The most important thing I learned in self treating my back pain is not to overdo it. If you have had lower back pain for several years, nothing you do will make it go away overnight. But overstrectching already damaged tissue is a good way to make it worse. As for the inversion table, good information on how to use it is a little hard find. I had mine for three years before I finally learned how to use it properly and conquered my back pain for good. The trick to inversion tables is to invert to only about 20 degrees and stay there for two or three minutes. If your back pain is really severe, you can do this up to five times a day. Once your back pain has somewhat diminished to where you can function, drop back to one or two times a day until the pain disappears. Once the chronic back pain is gone (yes, it is possible), drop back to twice a week. Each inversion treatment is like an adjustment from a chiropractor. If you feel things getting out of line, treat yourself. This has served me well when nobody or nothing else could. If you have low back pain, be it from golf or anything else, you can treat it yourself. But you will never feel any better if you don't work at it. How long will take? Figure about a week of inversion treatments for every year you have had chronic back pain. Believe me when I tell you back pain can be cured. I hardly remember what it is like. And my back was so bad that I was severely restricted in my activity. It was painful to do anything. If you have any questions or need any advice (friendly, not medical), send me an email. While I really want to help you play golf a little better, I don't think anything I could do would be a better service than to help you overcome your back pain. REMEMBER: First go see a chiropractor to see if there are any problems with your back that not even he can fix. But if he can fix it, so can you.
