It never ceases to amaze me how people who are having putting problems always follow those who have also had putting problems. Some poor soul who has totally lost it on the greens tries out some new grip that seems to work for them, and the next thing you know everybody with a putting issue is trying it.
They seem to forget the desperation that golfer was experiencing when they came up with their idea. If the player was competent to teach you something about putting he wouldn't have had to resort to that grip in the first place.
The natural result is a lot of people doing a lot of silly looking things in effort to roll a little white golf ball into a hole. Nothing could be easier, right?
Then you have people like Dave Pelz and Stan Utley. They are the scientific branch of putting. They can provide enough information to keep the average guy confused for years. Nothing against them, but putting is a simple target game. All of that is really not necessary and only serves to complicate what should be a simple thing.
There has never been a good putter who was conscious of his stroke while they were putting. It is just not possible to focus on your stroke and the line at the same time. Somethings gotta give.
Most golfers seem to think that good putting practice means working on your stroke. Working on your stroke in practice just makes it easier for you to think about it while you are putting on the course.
Really, what have you been thinking about while you practice your stroke? Duh, the mechanics of your putting stroke. And that's the last thing you need to be thinking about on the golf course.
Rather than worrying about releasing your putter head or whatever the latest teaching may evolve into, release your putting mind and leave it free to focus on the line you need to be starting the ball out on.
Your mind is powerful. If the only thought in your head is getting the ball started on line, the odds of doing it are greatly increased.
You tell your brain what line to start the golf ball on, and then let it tell your body how to it.
Now let me show you how to make your natural instincts improve your putting.
