Every now and then I stumble upon the debate about whether or not you should tee the ball up on par 3's. My answer is that you do what you are most confident in doing. Whatever that may be.
But to many, the answer is that you always tee it up because you can give yourself a perfect lie. Some of these same players are almost certainly the same ones you see that putt without lining the ball up.
Noting in the game of golf is easier than lining up a line on your golf ball to the intended starting line of your putt. Being able to put a tee in the ground pales in comparison to the advantage of placing a visible line of reference on the otherwise invisible line.
Still, I frequently see golfers just putting the ball down without a second thought. Others make the sure the ball markings are not visible.
If you do not currently line up your golf ball on every single putt you hit, you are wasting shots. Over something that cost no more than a Sharpie to make a line.
It doesn't take but a few seconds to line the ball up correctly. Not nearly as long as it take you to line up another putt and hit it again.
If you are one of those who still doesn't line up the ball, that's OK. There is still time to start doing it. You can start on your very next putt.
The Jury is in. Lining up your ball will save you putts. It makes sense. How can you expect to start your putts on a line you can't see?
Now let me show you the right way to start the ball on line.
