March Into the New Golf Season

As we enter into March and spring approaches, its time to start getting ready for the upcoming golf season. I don't play until after the Masters, but I am always ready when that time comes.

Don't make the mistake of taking your first swings of the year after you get to the course with a tee time. Use the good in-between days to get out in the yard and swing your driver. You don't need to hit balls if getting to the driving range is not an option.

What you are really trying to accomplish is waking up the muscles you will be using to swing the club, from their winter hibernation. Slowly and steadily as March marches on, you will feel stronger with the club in your hand.

You will be able to focus on your tempo since there is no ball to intrude on your psyche. You can actually get a lot of good things accomplished without having a ball to hit. Aside from the tempo benefits, you can also expect your muscles to last the entire 18 holes.

The golf doctors prescription is to swing five minutes a day for 30 days before you expect to tee it up. It doesn't take much effort and the reward is showing up at the course for the first round of the year in great shape to play.

You will feel more confident right off the first tee. Your rhythm will be incredible. You will probably hit the ball much better than had you stayed in that Lay-z-boy instead of Marching into the new golf season.
